She currently lives in Dodge City, Kansas with her two brothers and many animals. Lauren is a recent graduate of Dodge City High School and was active in the High School Band, Choir and Basketball Tournament Committee. This fall she will be attending Dodge City Community College to study in Equine Science. She plans to later attend Kansas State University and major in Veterinary Medicine. Lauren has also been very involved in Ford County 4-H for the past 12 years. The experiences and leadership opportunities in the Richland Boosters 4-H Club have assisted Lauren in achieving her goals and dreams. Outside of her club, Lauren has been active in the Exchange/Ambassador program, as well as Ford County 4-H Council. Since her start in 4-H, Lauren has been involved with the 4-H Horse Project. She thoroughly enjoys riding her horses and helping the younger members improve their knowledge and skills. While helping them, she improved her own skills and has begun breaking and training 2 yr olds in her spare time. She has competed at the Kansas State Fair many times. In 2008 she showed in the 2 yr old Snaffle Bit Futurity and placed 8th overall. This year she will be competing in the 2 and 3 yr old Futurities as well as barrel racing. Last, but not least, Lauren would like to thank everyone who has helped her along her way. First of all, a huge thanks to her parents and brother, Blake, for always being there and willing to help with whatever needs done! Next, a big thanks to everyone she has met on her rodeo queen journey. The kind words, encouragement, and support have had a large impact in pursuing her dreams. Finally, a big thanks to her boss for always lending a hand and teaching her everything she knows about horses. He has been such a wonderful instructor as well as friend and can never be thanked enough. Thanks again to everyone and she hopes to have a great year promoting rodeo and the western way of life as Miss Beef Empire Days 2009 . |
